Gangubai Kathiawadi Box Office Collections Day 1: Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi defies predictions, collects Rs. 10.50 cr on opening day

GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI is the story of a woman’s journey from being a prostitute to being a messiah of the oppressed.

Her family was strict, but they encouraged their daughter to study, which was sort of rare in the 1940s even among the well-to-do people. Ganga, however, aspired to be a film actor in Mumbai.

Ganga is told that Ramneek has sold her to Sheela for Rs. 500. At first, she protests but later gives in and joins the flesh trade.

Gangubai had been raped by a member of Karim Lala's gang, and she had walked up to the mafia don to demand justice.

Shaukat attacks Gangu and badly injures her. Gangu has to be hospitalized as Shaukat has disfigured her.

The way Rahim Lala comes forward to help Gangu gives her the much-needed boost. Soon, Sheela passes away and Gangu takes over the business.

Gangu defies norms and demands to be treated equally by the said nobles of the community. She lives by her own rules and wants the best and basics for the girls of the brothels, like education

she gives a passionate speech fighting for the rights of sex workers and their kids who deserve the right to be educated.
